On Wednesday, March 3 hundreds of pro tax-increase citizens filled Albemarle County’s Lane Auditorium to demand the opportunity to pay additional taxes. Many waved dollar bills in the air to show their support for the increase.
Of the hundreds in attendance, several people came forth to voluntarily pay Albemarle County additional tax monies totaling $1,921.18. The tax donor hall of fame includes:
- Aubrey Phillips: $881.10 (ACPS Parent Council)
- Matt Kessler*: $367.00 (Veterinarian)
- Mary A. Kelly: $365.00 (ACPS Teacher)
- Thomas Mix: $272.08 (ACPS Teacher)
- Gregory Quinn: $20.00 (Unemployed mason)
An additional $6.00 was donated anonymously from among the hundreds of dollar-bill-waving participants.
